Oopsy’s Trip to Mamaw and Papaw’s Farm

My mother and father-in-law have a beautiful farm about an hour away from where we live.  We love to visit, especially in the summertime!  The boys have certain favorites, the tractor being one of them…

Do you see Oopsy?

The pool being another.  The boys were sooo excited when I told them that we were going to go swimming.

Our trip out this weekend had another special reason.  Papaw made a special row in the garden for the boys to help plant beans.

Speaking of corn…

Waterbed trays that are normally used to start tobacco plants are used for starting corn early this year!

Oopsy thinks this is fun! She said it kind of feels like she is walking in a jungle. :-)

Right now, the cornstalks are just a little taller than Oopsy.

Another garden favorite is lettuce.  Mamaw often takes the lettuce and makes “wilted lettuce.”  For those of you who may not know what this is, you take hot bacon grease and pour it over clean lettuce.  Then you can add some chopped green onion, bacon bits, and salt for a tasty treat!

Papaw told me what the name of this bird is, but I have already forgotten. I want to say it is a Tree Swallow???

The boys almost always climb up onto the tractor for some pretend time.  I also found the boys trying to hook up their Step 2 Wagon to the tractor hitch.  It was the funniest thing to watch!  Unfortunately, my camera battery had just died.  Mamaw did get a picture, so maybe I will get to add that one later.

And a great picture to end this post with…

  1. Love to see children in the vegetable garden. When my boys were young they loved to pretend play on the tractors it would keep them amused for hours. Baby J is just the cutest!!

  2. I know, it is great! I love going to the farm because the boys are at an age now where they can play pretty freely, and they do stay busy for hours!

  3. My little guy would LOVE the tractor. I had to laugh at little C eating in the garden. My oldest was doing that a few weeks ago when our lettuces were finishing up.

  4. How funny! I am glad to know that it isn’t just my boys…LOL!
